DESCRIPTION:
Submersible waterproofer for waterproofing of showers, fishponds,
reservoirs, walls, decks, balconies etc
USAGE:
AL400 is formulated for use in bonding slurries, screeds, renderings,
pavings and other cementitious mixes where it wholly or partially
replaces the water content of the mixes and brings the following benefits
to cementitious mixes:
APPLICATION:
Preparation:
Clean all surfaces of dirt, dust, oil and stains. Check that the substrate
is in a sound condition and cured. Fill the cracks with one part AL400
and one part Portland cement before waterproofing
Method
Of Application
After preparing the substrate as described above, thoroughly brush
two sealing coats consisting of approximately two parts Portland cement
slurried with one part AL400 on to the surface. Apply the second sealing
coat as soon as the first coat is touch dry i.e. after approximately
20 - 30 minutes. Apply the sealing coats at right angles across each
other, thus ensuring complete coverage of the substrate. It is emphasised
that the thickness of each sealing coat should not exceed 1.6mm. The
double sealing coat system must dry out completely for a period of
at least 48 hours. Thereafter apply a tack coat consisting of two
parts Portland cement slurried with one part AL400. Apply the plaster
while the tack coat is still wet.
Plastermix
6 Litres of AL400 / 50kg cement. Where high hydrostatic pressures
are anticipated, the recommended level of AL400 is 12 litres / 50kg
cement. After the plaster has been applied, leave it to cure for 72
hours. For shower walls, apply the tiles immediately, while the tack
coat is still wet. Leave for 72 hours after the tile application.
Wash tools with water immediately after use.
FUNCTION
AL400 has been specifically formulated for use in bonding slurries,
screeds, screeds, renderings, pavings and other cementitious mixes.
It wholly or partially replaces the water content of the mixes. The
AL400 based slurries form a protective rubber-like skin which is tightly
bonded to the substrate and the sand/aggregate particles in the mix
are wrapped in rubber-like socks; the addition of AL400 slightly darkens
the mixes.
Unlike
some polyvinyl acetates, AL400 does not re-emulsify and once cured,
the bond is unaffected by water or water vapour.
Frequently, AL400 can be an economic replacement for epoxy and other
resin products and it is easier to use.
